What is a patio sling?
A patio sling is the material that is stretched between the rails of many popular brands of patio furniture. AS&PS offers a wide variety of high quality slinging materials to keep your patio furniture in its best shape year round. Our products are made from heavy duty fabrics and materials designed to stand up to your slinging application. Whether you're changing your patio slings for a fresh look, or replacing damaged or deteriorated slings, AS&PS has the materials you need to get the job done right.
How do I order a new Sling fabric for my furniture?
Check out our measurement instructions, following these instructions accurately ensures that we can cut your slings right the first time. Once you have all your measurements, you can find our custom order form by clicking "Slings" and then "Custom Order". Choose your style of patio furniture, as well as your fabric, inform us of the appropriate measurements, and we'll see to your order ASAP.
Why do patio slings need to be replaced?
Aside from common accidents, like children mistaking the furniture for trampolines, or sitting down with a sharp object in your pocket, patio slings become dry and brittle after years of exposure to the elements. Sun, rain, heat, and cold will eventually deteriorate slings to the point when they will become weak and crack or tear making the furniture unsafe to use. AS&PS recommends replacing your patio slings every 3-4 years, or before if they become dry, brittle, or any tears occur to avoid any accidents.
How long do patio slings last?
Depending on the location and conditions your furniture is kept in, your slings lifetime may vary. In general, slings on outdoor furniture generally last from 2 to 6 years. However, storing your furniture indoors while it is not in use or during the winter season can dramatically increase the life of your patio slings. AS&PS recommends replacing your patio slings every 3-4 years to avoid accidents from wear and tear.
How do I install a new replacement patio sling?
There are several configurations of sling furniture, but we provide a general installation guide to help answer your questions related to installing your new slings. Please visit our Sling Installation Instructions for guidelines on how to install your replacement patio slings.
How do I measure my patio furniture for ordering new slings?
AS&PS requires a few very specific measurements of your sling furniture frame to ensure we can fill your order correctly. There are several types of sling furniture configurations and AS&PS deals specifically with stretched-material slings. Please visit our Sling Measuring Instructions for guidelines on how to measure your sling frame for brand new AS&PS replacement slings. Be sure to measure twice!
How should I clean my sling furniture?
American Slings recommends rinsing your patio slings with a garden hose every so often to avoid having dirt embed into the fabric, weakening the material. Keeping your patio slings free of dirt and grime will dramatically increase their lifetime. Never use bleach, or bleach products, to clean your slings. Never dip your furniture into your pool to clean it. The chlorine in bleach and your pool will cause the slings to fade and dry out prematurely. To clean your slings, use a mild cleanser/degreaser such as dish soap. Use a soft bristled brush to gentle scrub the sling clean of any dirt or grime. Be sure to rinse your slings thoroughly. AS&PS recommends Casual Clean, a high quality cleaner designed specifically for your vinyl furniture. You can find it in our Parts Section along with everything else you'll need to keep your furniture in top condition.
Where can I see the patterns and colors of your sling material?
You can find all our sling color options along with high resolution sample photos by CLICK HERE TO VIEW SLING CHART, or by clicking Slings and then Sling Options in the menu at the top of the page.
Can I get samples of the sling material?
Of course! AS&PS realizes it can be incredibly difficult to determine a color based on a picture on the computer. In fact, we prefer to send you a free sample if you have any doubt about what color to order. Our Sample Order Form makes it easy for everyone. There is a limit of 4 free samples please. All samples are sent USPS to ensure fast and reliable delivery.
Can I send you a sample of my sling fabric to match?
Unfortunately, we are unable to match sling fabrics for a given manufacturer's product line. The original fabrics fade over time, and many times will not match. Manufacturers are also constantly revising their offerings, and fabrics can become discontinued and subsequently unavailable. Please take a look at our Sling Options for available colors and visit our Sample Order Form to order up to 3 samples free.
Can I send you my old sling fabric to use as a pattern?
Used slings do not provide an accurate measurements for an appropriate replacement sling as they are stretched and deformed. Please take a look at our Sling Measurement Instructions for guidelines on getting the right measurement for your furniture. Otherwise instructed differently.
Is the fabric mesh material used for slings a good quality?
AS&PS offers only the best quality outdoor grade mesh material.
Can I order this fabric by the yard?
Yes. All of our custom cut sling fabrics are available by the yard. The bolt width is 54" of 60". You can order by the yard under the Sling menu at the top of the page.
What if my slings don't fit when I get them?
We're committed to providing the best products and customer service for our clients. If your slings don't fit, please get in touch with us. If we made a mistake, we'll make it right. If the provided measurements were incorrect, we will gladly work with you to adjust them. We'll find a mutually agreeable solution to any problem with your slings. We won't leave you hanging!
How long does it take to ship my order?
Single layer sling orders are processed within 4-6 weeks.

How to take care of my Patio Furniture?
Furniture Maintenance
Fine outdoor furniture deserves exceptional care. Your furniture can be enjoyed for many years when well maintained. Wash the furniture with a solution of mild detergent and water, rinse with clear water and dry thoroughly. A clear automobile wax can be applied to smooth frame finishes to provide better protection against harmful ultraviolet exposure and salt air. DO NOT use any kind of wax, abrasive materials or strong detergents on Select finishes.

To vinyl, strap and sling seating surfaces, apply a quality vinyl protectant to guard against the effects of air pollution, salt air build-up, and mildew growth. Wash outdoor cushions with a solution of mild detergent and water and thoroughly rinse with clear water. Allow cushions to air dry completely.

For best protection, perform this maintenance two to three times a year, although these durable materials can be safely cleaned as often as desired.

Light stains can be removed with a solution of mild detergent and water, rinsed with clear water and dried thoroughly. Mildew and heavy stains can be removed with a quality commercial outdoor furniture cleaner and protectant.

Note: Some suntan and sun block products may be harmful to cushions, sling and vinyl and straps. Do not allow such products to come in contact with any seating surfaces to avoid deep penetrating stains, which are not covered under warranty.

Do not steam or use water at temperatures above 100°F when washing.

Note: Be careful to keep the cleaner from contact with the cushions of your furniture, as it will cause discoloration. Do not use bleach on printed acrylic fabrics. Do not use solvent-type materials on woven vinyl, woven blend or ultra woven blend fabrics as they will damage the yarns. Do not use chlorine based cleaners.

The only reason that I gave them one star is I can’t give them none. I had slings made for two chaises three years ago and had a great experience. My expectations were high to have another great experience. Placed the order on 5/29/25. Paid for expedited manufacturing. I indicated that the seats of the eight chairs varied. I sent them the eight seat width dimensions. Tony said he would send a sample set, that he could have one size to fit all the chairs. I received the sample set. The back fit perfectly the seat however was too lose. Tony said he would send a narrow seat. Received the second sample made to the exact size of the first one, too loose. At this time, they ‘ghosted’ me. I finally received a sample that fit. Then they sent the remaining pieces. Seven of the eight fit, the eighth as too tight. Again, no response. I finally received the last piece on 8/11/25, 11 weeks after the initial order. They have either grown too large that they can’t respond and make a quality product or they are just incompetent.
I will use anyone else when I need to do the other set of outdoor furniture.

Ordered new slings for our 20 year old patio set and they were perfect! Paid for expedited delivery and they were shipped out the same day. Great service, perfect description, wonderful directions with step by step instructions. Will definitely order from them again!

I shopped patio bar sets, bar stools and table, for months. Only things I liked, required assembly. If I was going to have to assemble any purchase, I chose to replace the Slings in my perfectly goof chair frames.

Not going to lie, removing the original sling was the lion's share of the labor. Once the sling was removed, I cleaned and treated the rail channels and inserted the sling. Could not be happier with my new slings. Replaced 6 slings on 22 year-old Tropitone swivel chairs. Slings were cut exactly and fit perfectly. I am not a handy guy, but I was able to replace them all myself in a couple hours, with no cursing. $400 for new slings beat the heck out of paying thousands for a new set.

Started off as a good experience ended up not so. Ordered one sling for lounger for correct fit which fit good.Ordered two more in same color but after installing all three notice the second two were a darker color then the first. After contacting American Slings numerous times nothing has been done to fix the problem. Notice in pictures the difference in colors.
Update: American Slings responded and issue was resolved. Overall a good experience.

Excellent product. I ordered 3 slings & they all fit perfectly & look great. It takes patience and a few hours on top of measuring, selecting fabrics, ordering, & all that. But worth it to DIY & save money. Just measure carefully, including the diameter of the plastic rod. I picked up a cheap spreader bar for ~$7 at Harbor Freight. Also bought plastic end caps from ChairSlingStore but they only come in black & white. I needed brown, so I roughed them up with 50 grit sandpaper & painted them. Very satisfied with my purchase & would highly recommend this company.

I ordered and appreciated detailed diagrams on how to measure the replacements. I emailed pictures to the company, and got a verify. The replacements arrived quickly and we used video to install. The replacements fit tightly and the chairs are in use.

I couldn't get it to stretch all the way across the chair. Customer service wasnt very supportive. They just told me to follow the directions. You may need to use a reverse pipe clamp if you don't have a son with seemingly bionic hand strength. I got the slings installed and they look wonderful.

We've replaced slings on about 2 dozen chairs around our pool over the last couple of years, all came very quickly, and all were custom sized dimensions and all have fitted perfectly in matching fabric (Montego Bay), including 2 we just replaced this week. Staff at American Sling were very helpful. I was a little nervous about measuring for the custom slings I needed. They reviewed the pictures I sent in and advised us on what to do. I ordered free swatches and one of them matched up perfectly with the old slings I had. They fit as expected. I received my order a lot sooner than the expected delivery time frame.

My 30 year old Winston patio chairs are of excellent quality and the slings began to fail in recent years. I was torn regarding starting over or refurbishing the old chairs. After researching how to revive the oxidized paint and replace the slings, I decided to give it a shot. American Slings had great fabric choices and their customer service was very helpful, so I selected them over other companies. The website was easy to navigate and I was able to place my order without any difficulty. After receiving the new slings and installing them, I could not be happier. I would not hesitate to use American Slings again and I have recommended them to friends.
